Wings of Freedom WWII Tour

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - The Wings of Freedom Tour, WWII bombers, will arrive at Tyler Pounds Field Regional Airport on Friday, March 11 at approximately 2:00 pm, from Shreveport, LA.

Host for this event is the Historic Aviation Memorial Museum. Joining the B-17 Flying Fortress, the B-24 Liberator, and the P-51 Mustang will be with the UH-1E Huey helicopter, which is based with the Vietnam era planes at Ellington Field in Houston, Tx. The Huey travels with the tour on its Texas stops. Rides are available for purchase on all these planes.

B-17 & B-24 are $425 per person for 30 minutes.

Huey is $80 per person in the back and $100 per person in the font seat for 10 minutes.

P-51 is $2200 for 30 minutes & $3200 for 1 hour (riders may get stick time)

B-17 & B-24 rides are early in the day or late afternoon. During the day they are on static display for touring. $12 adult, $6 children.

Rides in the Huey and P-51 are available throughout the day.

On Saturday, March 12, at approximately 9:30 am, the Collings Foundation's F-4D Phantom, based at Ellington Field in Houston, Texas will be making a grand entry to Tyler Pounds and do several fly-over passes.

Thanks to an anonymous sponsor, who has a love for Vietnam era planes, for making this happen.

The F-4D will then join the WWII bombers for static display till Sunday afternoon, March 13. Before returning to Houston, the F-4D will make additional passes over the airport during departure. Rides are not available on the F-4D Phantom.
