Panola College Student On The Way To Becoming American Idol

It's a show that's quickly become an American sensation. Now, the judges from "American Idol" will have a chance to see some East Texas talent.

Mt. Enterprise's Shawn Yoder, a sophomore at Panola College in Carthage, passed his first audition in Houston's Minute Maid Park. Over a two-day audition, Shawn beat out 3000 other hopefuls and now will return to Houston September 4th to perform in front of celebrity judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson.

If he passes this audition, he'll be on his way to Hollywood. Footage from the Houston tryouts will air when the "American Idol" season starts in October.
