Relationship experts visit LeTourneau University

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) – Whether you're married, single, divorced or dating, relationships make up a big part of your life.

And odds are that one, or more, of your relationships, could use a little work.

That's why LeTourneau University is hosting a relationship expert this week, and that expert says all relationships have the same problems, you just have to know where to look.

LeTourneau students Summer Brown and Jon Richards hadn't been dating long last year when Jackson Dunn and his wife Krista made their first visit to campus.

Summer and Jon listened to Dunn, paying close attention to his opinion that all people have buttons, and they're just waiting to be pushed.

"For me, the button that was being pushed was, he was coming across as uncaring, and that hurt," explained Summer.

After we had gone over the buttons being pushed, and this is what you're doing, and it's making me feel this way, and she realized that I wasn't falling asleep, and I was paying attention," said Jon.

The Dunns are back this year, and Summer and Jon plan to go back for a second helping. But, Jackson and his wife say it's not just couples that can learn how to better deal with people day-to-day.

"I look at it as stewardship. Are we leaving that person better, no matter the nature of the relationship, are they better as a result of us being in their lives," Jackson stated.

Krista explained, "I think that in every area of your life, there's something to learn about relationships, and the people around you, and especially about yourself. Because that's where it starts."

At least two people who have been through the program say simply, it works.

"What makes you feel uncared for, and how can we avoid that. It's not perfect, and we're still learning and working through things, but now, we can use that," says Summer.

The seminar continues at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday, and at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday.
