Henderson's Fletcher wins school's, region's first wrestling title

By Coleman Swierc

AUSTIN, TX (KLTV) - Cord Fletcher is now officially having the best season in Henderson High School history.

The senior defeated Trevor Harris from Arlington-Bowie in the finals of the 215 Division of the UIL State Wrestling Championships.

It is the first state championship in wrestling for the East Texas area, since it became an official UIL sport in 1998.

The championship this year, comes on the heels of Fletcher losing in the state finals last year.

Fletcher, now becomes one of the most decorated Henderson athletes in school history.

He was a starter on the football team, which brought home the school's first state title in December, and scored a touchdown rushing in the state title game.

Now, he has the first ever state title in wrestling, not only for the school, but for the whole region.'
