Cowboys Name Carter Their Starter

This afternoon Cowboys Coach Bill Parcells decided that Quincy Carter will be his starting quarterback for the season opener versus Atlanta. Parcells said " I do think Carter gives us the best chance right now."

The Cowboys cut five players today, one of whom was quarterback Clint Stoerner.  Chad Hutchinson and Rookie Tony Romo will battle for the backup spot. With the cut the roster has been trimmed down to 69 players, and they must cut at least three more by Tuesday. In the last two preseason games Carter has completed 18 of 29 passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns.
