Isolated tornadoes possible today

Posted By Chief Meteorologist Mark Scirto

Strong to severe storms are currently moving through East Texas this afternoon. The main threat today will be large hail, gusty winds and an isolated tornado possible. The storms are moving toward the Northeast at 50mph and the line of storms is moving toward the East at 20mph. All of East Texas is under a slight risk of severe weather with the northeastern corner of East Texas is under a moderate risk. It still appears the greatest tornado threat will be to our north and east however, there is a chance a tornado or two could develop somewhere across East Texas this afternoon.

The line of storms should be exiting East Texas around 7PM to 9PM tonight with drier cooler air moving into the area by morning.

Again the main threats from today's storms appear to be high winds and hail at this time. Isolated tornadoes are possible as well and if the low pressure forming to our west moves farther south than anticipated, our tornado threat will increase. Please stay with KLTV and throughout the day for more on this developing situation.
