Senator Ratliff Contemplates Resignation

The only republican state senator to vocally oppose congressional redistricting says he's now considering resigning.

Senator Bill Ratliff walked out of senate republican caucus last week after his colleagues moved to fine 11 boycotting democrats.

Wednesday, during a phone interview, Senator Ratliff says he may not even finish out the remainder of his term in office.

"I had made no secret that this would probably be my last term but so far as the 3 years that's left on this term. That decision is just a month to month decision for us," says Senator Ratliff.

Ratliff says he believes republican Lt. Governor David Dewhurst should return to the original district map.
