RAINS COUNTY, TX - A car chase in Rains County on Monday leads to the arrest of a Duncanville man.

Just after 8:00 Monday morning, Rains County deputies responded to a reckless driver that had reportedly run through barbed wire fences on Hwy 69 south of Lone Oak.

After a vehicle description, Highway Patrol Trooper Hayes spotted the car on Hwy 69 south of Point. When the trooper attempted to stop the suspect, the vehicle accelerated and tried to flee. Speeds reached excess of 100 mph as the suspect took the trooper on a 15 mile chase through county roads and pastures.

The suspect, 25-year-old Barry Steven Jones of Duncanville, ended up turning into a driveway, ramming his vehicle into the garage doors of a residence and into a pipe steel fence which disabled the vehicle. At that point, Jones got out of the vehicle and tried to get into a locked pick up truck on the property. Trooper Hayes then took Jones into custody.

The vehicle Jones had been driving was stolen out of Hunt County and he is also wanted for a parole violation.

Jones faces felony evading arrest in a vehicle and felony DWI, along with criminal mischief for destroying fences that contain livestock and several other properties.
