Man pleads guilty to drug deal in school zone

WOOD COUNTY, TX (KLTV) – On January 27, Mike Alvin Ruiz, 27, of Winnsboro, entered a plea of guilty to Delivery of Marijuana, Five pounds or less but More than One-Fourth Ounce in Drug-Free Zone (Enhanced) along with a guilty plea to Possession of Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1, Less than One Gram with Intent to Deliver in Drug-Free Zone.

On February 21, 2010, a Winnsboro Police Officer received information of an illegal drug transaction taking place at an apartment complex located within 1,000 feet of Winnsboro Memorial Middle School.

Winnsboro Police Department officers arrive, awaited and witnessed the anticipated illegal drug transaction resulting in detainment of Mr. Ruiz on February 21, 2010.

Ruiz was sentenced to Ten (10) Years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice-Institutional Division in each case along with the costs of court.
