NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - A state trooper based out of the Nacogdoches office has busted a second person in less than a week towing a horse trailer allegedly used for illegal activity.

Timothy Joseph Stancil, 43, of Supply, N.C., is charged with money laundering, a second-degree felony.

Lt. Mickey Hadnot said Trooper Jay Stone stopped Stancil, who was driving a 1999 Ford F-350 and towing an empty horse trailer, around 9 a.m. on U.S. 59, between Nacogdoches and Garrison, for driving with a defective taillight.

Hadnot said Stancil provided Stone with an inconsistent story about how he was traveling from North Carolina to Houston. Stancil gave Stone consent to search the pickup and trailer, Hadnot said.

Stone reported finding about $130,000 in cash in a hidden compartment in the trailer and another $15,000 in the pickup.

On Sunday, Stone arrested Thomas A. Porter, 35, of Kentucky, on drug charges after he reported finding 113 pounds of marijuana and 950 hydrocodone pills in an empty horse trailer.
