TYLER, TX (KLTV) - 129 doctors have been officially disciplined by the Texas Medical Board, and several of them are from right here in East Texas.

Dr. Teresa May Dickson of Flint agreed to a cease and desist order from the State Medical Board, which will prohibit her from practicing medicine in Texas. According to the board, Dickson surrendered her license in February of last year, but still wrote 35 prescriptions for the pain-reliever soma over the next six months. The board says Dickson denied the findings, but agreed to the order to avoid litigation.

In Sulphur Springs, Dr. Tom Korn voluntarily, and permanently, surrendered his Texas Medical License. The board says that Korn failed to treat a patient according to the generally accepted standard of care, and his privileges were revoked at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.

Two Longview Doctors were reprimanded: Dr. Dana Rice engaged in dishonorable conduct when she treated patients out of her home, and kept no medical records for them. She also had other reasons for disciplinary action, and must complete ethics training, pass the medical jurisprudence examination and pay a 4500 dollar penalty.

And Dr. Ellen Jean Remenchik, according to the board, violated board rules regarding medical records and treating chronic pain. She must complete 16 hours of training in record-keeping and pain management.

Dr. Randal Vinther in Nacogdoches must complete training, pass the medical jurisprudence examination, and pay a 2 thousand dollar penalty after violating the standard of care in treating a close family member.

And Dr. R. Anton Lester of Tyler, must complete eight hours of training after failing to maintain adequate records for one patient.

Again, there were more than 100 doctors across the state that were disciplined by the Texas Medical Board.
