Suspicious Wells fires have residents concerned

WELLS, TX (KTRE) - Three suspicious fires, all within a block of one another in the city of Wells, have neighboring residents concerned for their safety.

One fire, which destroyed a storage building, has already been ruled an arson. The latest, a Tuesday night house fire on East Odom Street, located right off U.S. 69, is suspicious, according to Constable Jack White.

Those two fires and another to a barn have occurred within the last two weeks. All are within a block of each other.

Two people were home when the house fire sparked, but they made it out of the house safely. White, who serves as a fire investigator for Cherokee County, said it started on the front porch, which raises suspicions.

White said a suspect has not yet been named in the storage building fire.
