Arsonists enter final guilty pleas in Van Zandt Co.

VAN ZANDT COUNTY, TX (KLTV) – The two convicted East Texas church arsonists pleaded guilty Friday afternoon, to their final set of arson charges.

Ironically, it all ended Friday, where it all began just over one year ago.

Jason Bourque pleaded guilty to burning down two Van Zandt County churches: Little Hope Baptist Church in Canton, which authorities believe to be the first church set ablaze, and Russell United Methodist Church in Wills Point.

Bourque is sentenced to life in prison, and is ordered to pay restitution to the churches.

Daniel McAllister, only charged in connection with the Russell United Methodist Church, pleaded guilty.

McAllister is sentenced to life in prison, and has also been orded to pay restitution to the Russell UMC.

Bourque has already been sentenced to eight life sentences plus 60 years for his role in the church arsons in Henderson and Smith counties.

McAllister is also sentenced to four life sentences plus 40 years for Henderson and Smith county arson charges.
