Kelly Springfield Stalls Contract Settlement on Three Issues

Union members negotiating for Kelly Springfield say three issues are stopping them from reaching an agreement with parent company, Goodyear Inc. The union says Goodyear has yet to change its stance on job security, employee health benefits and its financial restructuring of the company.

The plant continues to operate on a day-by-day basis. Meanwhile, union officials released a solidarity statement to employees, saying if settlement is not reached in the coming week, alternative contingency plans could be implemented to increase pressure on the company.

Negotiations are still ongoing.
