Members of Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler rolled up their sleeves Sunday to help relieve the depleted blood supply in the area. The group is just one of many hoping to help out a drastic situation in east texas.
The east texas blood supply has been at critical levels during the past few months. One person injured in a car accident last week required 50 units of blood.
Since then, some hospitals have had to check day to day to see if they had enough blood for non emergency surgeries.
In the hopes of remedying the problem, Stewart Regional Blood Center will be holding blood drives this week.
The drives will be held in Kilgore on Tuesday, Jacksonville on Wednesday, and in several locations on Friday.
