"I just gave him everything. My life comes first"

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - A Tyler man had the scare of his life this morning when he was robbed at gunpoint.

It happened just before ten this morning at Henderson Chicken on Grand street in north Tyler.

An employee says the men were dressed in black and wearing ski masks.

It was not a typical morning for Reginald Mills. Shortly after showing up for work at Henderson Chicken, two men wearing ski masks ran into the restaurant. He says they were screaming at him and waving guns around. Mills says they wanted all the money in the register.

"I just gave him everything. My life comes first. I let them have it," he said.

Mills says the men exited the building with his money as well.

"They got back in their vehicle, they left the scene and we're searching for them at this time." Don Martin of the Tyler Police Department said.

The search was unsuccessful. Mills says the men were both black, and that he's lucky to be alive. Only one thing was going through his head.

"Give him his money. Give him the money. I just, you know, let me make it. They could have shot me. They let me go, I mean, praise the Lord they didn't shoot me," Mills stated.

Police say the best way to handle a situation like this is to hand over the money.

Police are asking for your help. If you witnessed any part of this crime, call the Tyler Police Department.
