It's been a little more than 24 hours since actor Arnold Schwarzenneger announced his plans to replace California Governor Gray Davis.
Arnold made his candidacy official Thursday, filing the necessary paperwork to run in the re-call election. Larry Carter, an assistant professor or political science at UT- Tyler says the actor's announcement reflects an era of politics, where media and fame overrule experience.
"It's fairly new," he says. "As long as your face is familiar, your name is familiar, people consider you a viable candidate...it's not necessarily based on whether you have a political background."
