LONGVIEW,TX (KLTV)-East Texas county officials are under scrutiny again , as three of its members will be defending themselves in court.

An arraignment date has been set for February 11th for Upshur County Judge Dean Fowler, sheriff Anthony Betterton and Precinct 3 Commissioner Lloyd Crabtree. All were recently indicted on misdemeanor charges connected to conspiring to kick a man out of a commissioners court meeting for protesting the court's decision to ban public comment. They are charged with official oppression.

The charges stem from a deputy's removal of a resident, Jimmy Caughron, from a November meeting of the Upshur county commissioners court after he put duct tape over his mouth in protest.
