TYLER, TX (KLTV) - The T.J.C. baseball team felt the excitement of reporting to Mike Carter Field on Wednesday. The 2011 Apaches picked up their new jerseys and took team pictures, ready to erase the heartache of 2010. Last season was successful for first year head coach Doug Wren. Just not good enough. T.J.C. lost in the national championship game on their home field in May.
"It was good to get that experience," said T.J.C. pitcher Jason Jester. "Just to see these stands packed. It just reminds us everyday, to watch someone else dog pile on our field that we don't want that to happen again."
The loss has been motivating. The Apaches think this years team is actually better.
"We think about that every single day," said T.J.C. outfielder Josh Salmon. "It helps us push forward each practice, makes us work hard. We know how it feels to lose it all, but this year we want to get back and win it all."
T.J.C. hosts a doubleheader with Dallas Christian beginning Saturday at noon.
