Drive-by shooting in Palestine

Released by The Palestine Police Department:

PALESTINE, TX (KLTV) - The Palestine Police Department is investigating the shooting of a young man that took place on 01-24-2011. Police were dispatched to the Palestine Regional Medical Center after receiving a call that a male subject had been brought in by private vehicle. Police learned that 25 year old Shaun Michael Washington had received a gunshot wound to each of his lower legs.

The victim, Washington, informed police that he was at a house in the 600 block of South Dorrance St. talking with friends when a white car drove up and stopped. The driver of the car lowered the window and exchanged words with the group. The driver of the car then produced a handgun and began to fire at the group. Washington was hit once in the lower right leg and again in the lower left leg.

The victim and other witnesses at the scene of the shooting have informed police that there were at least two males in the vehicle at the time of the shooting. The Palestine Police is looking to identify both subjects in the vehicle as they are considered to be persons of interest in the shooting of Shaun Washington.

Police were advised that there was a verbal altercation between the subjects and one of Washington's friends earlier on the day of the shooting. Police are still investigating to determine if this was in fact the motive for the shooting.
