Create a handmade Valentine for the troops

Released by Liberty Tax Service:

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - Send a smile across the miles with a handmade valentine and greeting to a member of the United States military serving overseas.  Liberty Tax Service has again partnered with Valentines for Troops/A Million Thanks of southern California to collect valentines for our troops stationed across the globe.

Liberty Tax Service at 408A E Loop 281, will collect valentines this weekend.  A pre-Valentine's Day collection event will take place Saturday, January 29th at the Liberty Tax office at 408A E Loop 281 from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. with food, drinks, sweets, fun jumps, music and more!  You can bring your Valentine or make one at the event!

Liberty Tax Service invites individuals, businesses, school and church groups to create old-fashioned handmade valentines, and write a handwritten thank you note too.   Mailing regulations prohibit the use of glitter on cards mailed to our military.  Interested organizations or persons can call the local Liberty Tax office at (903) 212-2800 for more information on how to get involved.

A used cell phone donation is welcome too at Liberty Tax Service.  Since 2004, the company has been supporting Cell Phones for Soldiers (, an organization also started by teenagers wanting to make a difference for US soldiers.  The cell phones are recycled to provide calling cards so that troops stationed overseas can call home.

Shauna Fleming, the twenty-one year-old founder of Valentines for Troops/A Million Thanks, said she is excited to have Liberty Tax Service involved again this year with the campaign.

"I appreciate Liberty Tax for their help in gathering community support for this project and getting the Valentines in the hands of those in the military.  Without our brave men and women, our country would not remain as free as it is today," said Fleming.
