TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - Despite being shot in the head, an Oregon woman managed to drive herself to a gas station seeking help.

Lindsey Steele, 26, was shot around 11 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Sylvania and Catawba in North Toledo.

Steele drove to the nearby Stop and Go gas station at the corner of Lagrange and Manhattan, where police responded.

Steele remains in the intensive care unit at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.

Police arrested Steven Upham, 42, from Toledo in connection with the shooting.

Lindsey's mother, Karen Steele, tells WTOL 11 her daughter knows Upham and says Lindsey may have been shot because she planned to turn someone in to police.

She says Lindsey had struggled with drugs in the past.

"Look what happens, you try to get away from it and do the right thing and she gets shot," Steele said. "Something needs to be done about these drug dealers that just prey on these kids."
