TYLER, TX (KLTV) - A strong cold front will make its way through East Texas today bringing much colder weather to the area. As the cold air moves in later this morning there is a chance light rain could mix with and change to sleet and freezing rain along the I-30 corridor. Because of this parts of the I-30 corridor are under a winter weather advisory. Along the I-20 corridor temperatures should remain above freezing while the precipitation is in the area. However, we can't rule out a little freezing drizzle this evening before the atmosphere dries out. Right now we are not anticipating any major travel problems but please stay with us as this developing winter weather situation develops.
The other weather headline today will be the low wind chill temperatures. As the temperature drops into the lower 30s this afternoon, winds will gust as high as 20 to 25 mph. This will make the wind chill drop into the lower 20s at times. So even though it feels warm outside now, take the heavy coat with you today. You will be thankful later.
