TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Texas Toll 49 in Tyler is beginning a new segment and a new transition of responsibility. Segment 3B and the rest of the segments will now be under the leadership of NET RMA (North East Texas Regional Mobility Authority).

NET RMA's chairman, Jeff Austin III, says segment 3B will connect Highway 31 to Interstate 20. He believes it will be done around Christmas 2012. Austin also says this segment especially should boost local economy. " That really completes the roadway for a complete by pass where you can really travel somewhere. We're looking at creating new jobs, and hopefully that money spent will be kept within our region."

Austin says the toll money will go towards developing and maintaining the rest of Toll 49. Segment 3B is costing them over 65 million dollars. The Toll 49 will be cost two hundred million dollars by the time it's all open.
