Rusk Co. passes jail inspection

Released by Rusk County Sheriff's Office:

RUSK COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - On Friday, January 14, 2011, the Rusk County Sheriff's Office, Jail Division annual inspection of the current jail was conducted by the Texas Commission on Jail Standards. Upon completion of the inspection there were no deficiencies noted by TCJS Inspector, Robert C. Green.  A certification of Compliance was issued per the requirements of VTCA, Chapter 511 and Texas Minimum Jail Standards.

The new addition to the jail will be inspected sometime in February, 2011.  The exact opening date of the new jail division has yet to be determined.

The State Law requires periodic inspections of county jail facilities (VTCA, Local Government Code, Chapter 351, VTCA, Government Code, Chapter 511; Chapter 297.8, Texas Commission on Jail Standards).

Sheriff Danny R. Pirtle stated this is the result of having professional trained employees.  I am proud of the job all jail employees have done and will continue to do.  All jail employees will continue to follow all jail procedures that the Texas Commission on Jail Standards requires including all policy and procedures set by Rusk County Sheriff's Office.
