Restaurant Report: 2 restaurants totaling 49 violations

EAST TEXAS, TX (KLTV) - Two restaurants were singled out for violations in Tyler and Longview in the latest round of health inspections.

Chili's

Cooked ribs & raw fajita beef held too hot (thermometer)
Mashed potatoes held to cold (thermometer)
Raw meat in a chiller out of temperature (thermometer)
Inadequate hand-wash facilities (hand washing)
Cutting board & ice machine contact surfaces not clean (unclean)

Total Demerits:19

Outback Steakhouse

Tyler

Well-done beef was not cooked to the proper temperature (thermometer)
Several hand-washing violations noted (hand washing)
Hand-sinks inaccessible (hand washing)
Raw meats stored improperly, raw meat over ready-to-eat cheese (danger)
Food managers could not demonstrate basic food safety (danger)
Can opener and other food contact surfaces needed cleaning (unclean)

Total Demerits: 30

Well today was the perfect day to do it, because two East Texas teams paired up with local Dairy Queens to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network.  Serving guest at the drive-thru and enjoying some ice-cream themselves, John Tyler Lions and Tyler Lee Red Raiders football took part in Miracle Treat Day.  A five dollar donation was worth a small blizzard.
