Texas Senator Tries to Save Amtrak

Saving a failing rail line was the reason Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison was in East Texas today. Hutchison met with Amtrak Texas-Eagle supporters, to outline the American Rail Equity Act -- her bill to overhaul Amtrak.

The senator said she wants to make Amtrak faster and more efficient. Hutchison wants to see the rails become a national way of travel. If she gets the bill through, it would mean $2.2 billion for the next 6 years to fund Amtrak.

Aides say she will propose the bill in October.
