Celebrations in East Texas for MLK holiday

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - Today marks the 25th anniversary of the national holiday in Dr. Martin Luther King's honor.

Here is a list of some of the Martin Luther King Day events in East Texas:

In Longview, an MLK walk is scheduled to begin at 11:15 this morning.

The march starts at Broughton Recreation Center and a memorial service begins at noon.

In Hallsville, an MLK march starts at 5:15 p.m. at the sub-Courthouse and goes to the First United Methodist Church of Hallsville with a community service following at 6:00.

The Carthage Courtesy Club is sponsoring an 8:00 a.m. Walk-a-Thon.

A parade starts at 11:00 a.m. in the Carthage High School parking lot.

In Mineola, The Ministerial Alliance is holding a service at 10 a.m. on Front Street.

Following an invocation, a "Walk of Unity" will end at St. Paul Mission Baptist Church with a church service following at 10:30.

The 25th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Interfaith Rally and March will begin at 9:30 this morning in Tyler.

There will be a rally in the downtown square, followed by a march down Broadway Avenue to the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception for a service.
