HENDERSON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Over 20 Smith County inmates were moved out of the Upshur County Jail on Thursday.
The Upshur County Jail is out of compliance, according to the Texas Commission on Jail Standards.
Earlier this month, the inmates were moved from Gregg County to Upshur County because the jail facility came out of compliance when the Sheriff learned jail logs had been falsified.
The inmates are now in the Henderson County Jail in Athens.
A total of 51 Smith County inmates are housed in neighboring counties according to Smith County Sheriff J.B. Smith.
