NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - A Nacogdoches man was arrested Saturday evening after authorities say he was driving intoxicated with six children when he hit another vehicle, before fleeing the scene on three tires.
Miguel Angel Marroquin, 33, is charged with driving while intoxicated with a child passenger, endangering a child and failure to stop and render aid.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Marroquin was driving on FM 2863 when he hit a 2001 Ford Escape, totaling it. He then drove away from the scene, with only three working tires, for about a half-mile before his Dodge pickup stopped moving, according to the affidavit.
A deputy with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office caught up to Marroquin and saw he had six children with him, all between the ages of 2 and 10.
The deputy reported he had glassy eyes, slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol on his breath.
The deputy arrested Marroquin and booked him in the Angelina County Jail. The children were released to their grandmother.
