TYLER, TX (KLTV) - The City of Tyler is looking into what triggered some emergency sirens to go off in South Tyler Friday afternoon.
Susan Guthrie with the city, says there was no initiation of testing the system and are looking into what exactly caused the sirens to sound.
Guthrie said some of the sirens were under repair for lightning strikes late last year.
The City of Tyler's technical department is investigating.
UT Tyler sent out a notice that they were testing the sirens today at 4:00 p.m. The notice was emailed out at 1:30 p.m..
