Boy in critical condition after being struck by school bus

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A 12-year-old Anderson Township boy was flown to the hospital after being hit by a school bus Tuesday morning.

It happened just after 7 a.m. at the corner of Nagel Road and Stonegate Drive, near Nagel Middle School in Anderson Township.

Police say Alexander Aldridge, a 7th grader at Nagel Middle School, was attempting to cross Nagel Road from west to east as two school buses were traveling in opposite directions. As the victim darted between the two buses, he was struck in the northbound lane by a bus driven by Diane Reed, 44. Police say she noticed the Aldridge at the last minute and tried to brake, but he was knocked to the ground.

Aldridge was taken to Mercy Anderson Hospital, but then AirCare was called to transport him to Cincinnati Children's Hospital. He is listed in critical condition.

Investigators say the accident happened in an unlighted location with no crosswalk. No charges are expected to be filed against the bus driver.
