TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Arrests for DWI's over the New Year's "No Refusal" weekend are down from last year.
Over the New Years Holiday weekend, The Tyler Police Department along with other Smith County emergency agencies made a total of twelve DWI arrests for the "No Refusal" campaign.
DPS had seven DWI arrests and The Tyler Police Department arrested five during the campaign.
Between the agencies they had three refusals to take a breathe/blood specimen. DPS had two refusals and Tyler PD had one.
DWI arrests for the holiday weekend were down about 20 percent this year from last, however the Lindale Police Department had a fatality accident on New Year's Day that was believed to be alcohol related.
The accident resulted in the death of the suspect and blood results are pending.
