LONGVIEW,TX (KLTV)- Police in Longview are investigating the mysterious death of a woman in her hotel room as a homicide. The body was found at the Executive Inn on east Marshall avenue around 8 o'clock this morning. Officers began searching rooms at the Executive Inn early this morning.

"Officers were dispatched at 7:58 this morning in the 1900 block of east Marshall avenue for a check welfare called," says Longview police sergeant Laura Samples.

It was at the far end of the motel where they made a startling and disturbing find.

"The officers entered the room and discovered an adult female deceased," Samples says.

Other guests were unnerved to hear that a guest had died, and no one seemed to know who she was. The justice of the peace told us the woman, a female in her mid-30's, had been dead an estimated 5-to-6 hours. With no definitive answers as to what happened here police are hoping surveillance camera's on the property may tell them who was in an out of the room over the past day. Neighbors heard no struggle, no shots or shouting, and even the cause of death has not been released.

"The challenge for law enforcement is reconstructing the events to find out exactly what happened, the detectives are still investigating the details of what may have happened," Samples says.

Police collected evidence at the scene and are trying to determine who may have been at the room over the past day, and what led to the woman's death. Investigators say there was confusion about the woman's identification. Her identity will not be released until her family is notified. An autopsy has been ordered.
