Water Meters Go High Tech

Tyler's Water Department is going high tech.

The city is installing new water meters for all of Tyler's 31,000 water customers. The new meters are expected to be much more accurate, saving the city $2.2 million per year.

They also save time. Workers can check the meters while driving down the street, instead of having to get out and inspect each device by hand.

The first meters to be replaced are in southwest Tyler, known as Water District 3. The entire project is expected to take 14 months.
