LONGVIEW,TX (KLTV)- Titus county authorities say 2 men and a woman were killed around 6:30 this morning in an apparent murder-suicide. A frantic 9-1-1 call got Titus county officers to the scene of Vocnet, which is a company that provides people with physical and mental impairments job skills.
"There were gunshots fired out at this place, we got there and found two male victims one being the suspect dead in the parking lot," says Titus county sheriff Tim Ingram.
Investigators say 48-year-old Lee Boyd, who worked for Vocnet, shot co-worker 35 year old Junior Lee Horton with a 12-gauge shotgun, then turned it on himself.
"We don't think its a random shooting he had his victims in mind who he wanted to shoot and he got one we think he was wanting one more," Ingram says.
Officers say a search of Boyd's home revealed he had killed his girlfriend, Vivian Mitchell.
"The girlfriend, we're certain was killed first, it was later discovered that the shooter, we found his girlfriend dead at his residence," he says.
Investigators say Boyd was looking for Mitchell's former boyfriend, who works at Vocnet, but managed to escape. Police believe he may have also been disgruntled over proposed job cuts.
"Add all that together is what we think cause him to snap, truly god only knows what caused him to snap, after he killed her, he got in his truck drove to workplace got out of his truck when one of his co-workers arrived and shot him point blank," says Ingram.
"Its terrible its shocking, it shocked me and I've been thinking about it all day I can't believe Leefield who do that," says family friend Judith Greene.
All three victims worked at Vocnet.
"From what I'm hearing about mister Boyd, people would never have guessed that he'd done something like this, its just a horrific tragedy," Ingram says.
Investigators have not released the cause of death of miss Mitchell. Autopsies on all three bodies have been ordered.
