TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Singing Deputies, sounds like a movie from the fifties, but it's real, and here in Tyler.

"Sounds of Smith County", a choral group made up of Deputies from the Smith County Sheriff's Department, performed for the Smith County Commissioner's Court and received a standing ovation.

The choir has between 20-25 members and is accompanied by a guitarist, keyboardist, and drummer, when it fits in the room. They've been together since last May, and perform at churches and nursing homes around the area.

They're booked through January, but if you'd like them to perform at your church, you can call 903-590-2668 to ask about available dates.

They say they formed the group to try to give something back to the community.
