TYLER, TX (KLTV)-Donald, 8, is kind, outgoing and loves to explore. Now all he needs is a family to join him on his journey through childhood.
During an afternoon exploring the Caldwell Zoo this 3rd grader was so excited he bounced from one exhibit to the next.
Donald got to see all types of animals, but his favorite are "the penguins!", Donald said.
"I think a family that is ideal for him would be very busy, would be able to keep him in a structured environment," Intensive Adoption Coordinator Lori Sutton-White said. "He does well when it's very predictable. when he knows what he can expect, but at the same time he needs to have some activities that will help him run off some of that energy in a positive way."
Full of joy and excitement Donald loves to experience new things. Donald also likes to attend church and go on trips to the local park, library, and to local community events. Oh, and likes to dance.
When it comes to his forever family Donald says he wants both a mom and a dad.
Sutton-White said a two parent family with older children would be the best situation for Donald.
"Donald is going to need a family that is very patient, very committed to helping him in all areas: academically, behaviorally, emotionally," said Sutton-White. "He just really needs a family that is going to understand that his environment and where he came from. He's really struggling to process that."
Donald receives specialized services in school due to his emotions and behaviors and he also receives weekly counseling in his home.
When it comes to his favorite foods, like most boys his age, Donald loves "hamburgers," Donald said.
He also likes french fries, ice cream and cotton candy!
While Donald loves all these things, what he would love more than anything in the world is a forever family to show him the Gift of Love.
