Woman arraigned in Rusk Co. pot bust

Released by The Rusk County Sherrif's Department:

RUSK COUNTY, TX - At approximately 4:30 Tuesday afternoon, Rusk County Sheriff's Department arraigned 26-year-old, Ashanti S. Butler, for Possession of Marijuana, a 22nd degree felony.

Honorable Justice of the Peace, Precinct 5, Bob Richardson set bond at $75,000.

Butler was stopped by Rusk County K-9 Deputy Jason Smith on December 6, 2010, at approximately 10:30pm on US Hwy 59, in Southern Rusk County.

Narcotic Dog, Caro, alerted on the vehicle which led to the discovery of the Marijuana.  Deputy Smith seized the Marijuana and arrested the suspect.

Butler is currently in the Rusk County Jail.

Sheriff Danny R. Pirtle stated, this was a good day for Rusk County Law Enforcement to get the narcotics off the street and the violators into custody.
