TYLER, TEXAS (KLTV) - The YMCA of Tyler hosted its 13th Annual Reindeer Run, Saturday morning.
Organizers said hundreds of people registered for the event, making it one of the largest Reindeer Runs to-date.
The event began with a half-mile Family Fun Run. Stuart Gilpin, executive director, said the event is just one way the 'Y' brings families together during the holiday season, while helping other families in need.
"With the economy, we've got a real need to provide scholarships and assistance," he said. "We've got a policy here at the 'Y' that we don't turn anyone away with an inability to pay, and events like this really help raise funds to help people enjoy our facilities and our programs."
The event also included a 5k run through the downtown Tyler area. The Reindeer Run also benefits the East Texas Food Bank.
