TYLER, TX (KLTV) - For the past month, students and faculty from Hubbard Middle School have brought their patriotism together to make a difference. The students put together three hundred gift packages for U.S soldiers in two camps in Afghanistan. The students collected items like hot chocolate, hand wipes, toothpaste, and beef jerky to go in the packages. To help purchase these items the students donated four hundred dollars in two days. One quarter at a time.

Students say this was the perfect opportunity to give back. Seventh Grader Kylesha Collins said, "I know that most soldiers don't get presents and stuff for Christmas, and I thought it was an awesome way to give back to our soldiers who are fighting for us."

Miss. Amaya, a teacher at Hubbard Middle School held a ceremony today for the students. Her son who is in the Army, Captain Amaya, came to say a personal thank you in behalf of U.S Soldiers in Afghanistan.
