LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - A Lufkin woman who used tape and an extension cord to abuse a child avoided prison time on Thursday by accepting a plea deal.
Kathy Butler Taylor, 38, accepted two concurrent probation sentences, one for 10 years and the other for 5, and pleaded guilty to injury to a child and unlawful restraint.
According to a previous report, a Child Protective Services investigator contacted the Angelina County Sheriff's Office on March 23 about a report of physical and mental abuse from three people.
In an interview at Angelina Alliance for Children, the victim talked about how she and two other people had been abused by Taylor for a number of years.
The girl said that on more than one occasion Taylor had used tape to bind her hands, feet and mouth. The girl said Taylor would make her lie on the floor so Taylor could beat her with an extension cord.
The other two people, one of whom is an adult, confirmed the girl's story.
