Palestine Native Receives Wings of Honor

He flew over dangerous terrain in the dark to supply U.S. Special Forces with food and water.

It was a perilous mission for Palestine resident and air force reservist, Lietenant-Colonel Ben Williams.

For his bravery, Secretary of the Air Force, James Roche presented the Palestine native with the distinguished flying cross on Independence Day. The honor is bestowed upon pilots who have completed heroic acts in support of special operations. Williams is the son of Charlie and Martha Williams of Palestine. Only 32 other pilots received the honor.
