TYLER, TX (KLTV) - The Traffic Engineering Department reports all traffic signals at the intersection of Loop 323 and Old Henderson Highway are now operational and officers are no longer directing traffic.
An early morning accident involving an 18-wheeler that hit a traffic signal pole, knocked out the lights at the intersection. Initially, the Tyler Engineering Department advised the traffic signals would not be restored until about 5:00, Thursday evening. Motorists were advised to avoid the area.
Tyler police say the big rig, towing a flatbed loaded with crushed cars, was traveling southbound on the Loop when the driver attempted to make a left turn to go eastbound on Old Henderson Hwy.
The driver lost control during the turn and the vehicle rolled over on its side knocking down the eastbound traffic signal pole.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was transported to the hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries.
