Tyler, TX (KLTV) - What do you get when you mix Firemen, Elves, Therapet and Elvis? You get the kickoff of the Tyler Fire Department's annual toy drive, of course. That is if you also sprinkle a little Better Business Bureau on top. Prestige Estates Assisted Living organized the event for the residents, and there was a whole lotta donatin' going on.
At 10 a.m. Prestige Estates went to the dogs. But, everybody was pretty happy about it. Nothing brightens your day quicker than petting a happy dog, and Therapet is proof of that. The Tyler Better Business Bureau tagged along to hand out a few goodies to deserving residents, and make sure nobody got scammed.
At 10:30 an emergency crew arrived on the scene, but it turned out the only thing that was burning was James Wages, an Elvis impersonator. He danced in around 11:00.
"Its all about elves and Elvis today," Jo Anne McMeans said. and Elvis sang "This is out third annual event and our firefighters continue to support the indigent children in our community, so we so much want to be a part of this every year."
"Here in another ten days, we're going to pick up all the toys and go to the Salvation Army where they go to help with the Angel Tree," Firefighter Joey Hooten said.
That "army of salvation" will fight to ensure the toys are matched with the right children.
Prestige Estates is a designated toy drive drop off, and you can donate gifts there between 9am and 6pm through December 12th.
