Longview Regional Gives Back During the Holiday Season

Posted: Updated:

On Monday, December 6, 2010, Longview Regional Medical Center, in conjunction with the Auxiliary, will have their annual Benevolence Fund Tree and Wreath auction. The annual event includes more than 40 trees and/or wreaths decorated by hospital departments and their employees.

All proceeds benefit the Longview Regional Medical Center's Benevolence Fund. The LRMC's Auxiliary benevolence fund has been used for those employees who have needed assistance in making car repairs or payments, electricity and gas payments, emergency travel arrangements, prescription drugs, medical equipment, emergency surgery, new air conditioner, and other assistance deemed emergent. These past two years topped the most raised for the Benevolence Fund. The Tree and Wreath Auction raised a combined total of $6575.00.

"Our staff is deeply committed to giving patients their best every day. They have a wonderful team spirit and dedication to our hospital. We are blessed that we can give back and help those in need during tough times. What a joy it is to provide for others during a season of giving." said Jim Kendrick, CEO of Longview Regional. "In the past, some of the trees have been auctioned off for more than $500.00 each. Each one will be "sold" to the highest bidder," he added.

LRMC finds many different ways to raise funds to give back to their employees throughout the year. "The Christmas Trees and Wreaths seem to be one of our employee's favorites. As in years past, we have seen many creative ideas from NFL and College football themed trees, to Hunting trees, to a tall Santa tree, an all Zebra and pink girlie tree, to an all boy Hot wheel tree. We even had a gorgeous wreath one year, and in the center was a hurricane globe with a tall candle, surrounded by this beautiful bow and copper colored ribbon, stems and magnolias. We love to see the new ideas each of the departments come up with year after year. It's amazing they never run out of a new theme!," said Kim Brown, Director of Marketing.

The auction will begin on Monday, December 6 at 8:30 a.m. and will continue through Friday, December 10 at 2:00 pm at Longview Regional Medical Center in the lobby. The trees and wreaths will be on display throughout the week. The main lobby is located on the first floor, opposite the Coffee Shop.
