TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Soon the fragrance of turkey, dressing and assorted pastries will be wafting through the air. There is one holiday smell, however, that can be used to spice up something else. According to a new study, the scent of a pumpkin turns men on more than any other smell.
When you ask men what scent they like best on women, their senses are specific.
"White Diamond. It smells good. It has a lasting aroma," Dewain Mixon said.
"I like jasmine, like a fresher scent," David Aaron said.
"It's Very Sexy Victoria's Secret ... I think," Jacob Bjork said.
The Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation of Chicago conducted a scientific study to find out which scents really turn men on. Turns out, a seasonal smell got the men's blood rushing the most.
"Pumpkin rolls, pumpkin pies, pumpkin cheese pies, pumpkin bread," Chez Bazan Bakery owner Claudia Bazan-Hill said.
"There is something that, the taste of it in your mouth, is just so good. I want to make it mouth-watering so everyone knows how good it is," Dewain Mixon said.
Out of 24 different aromas, researchers found the smell of pumpkin was the most powerful turn-on.
"That kind of surprises me because it doesn't turn me on at all," Mason Dean said.
However, Bazan-Hill has sold more than 800 pies this Thanksgiving and said she's not surprised by these findings, considering the spices that are in pumpkin recipes.
"Nutmeg is considered an aphrodisiac, and so is ginger in some cultures, and so are cloves. So, when you are mixing that all into one, you are really spicing it up. So, it is almost an overload," Bazan-Hill said.
Despite the scientific proof, women said they are not on board with pumpkin perfume.
"I love pumpkin pie, awesome. But, I don't know if I would use it on myself as a spray," Sephora Cosmetic Consultant Connie Mendoza said.
The women we talked to said they will leave this holiday aroma to the kitchen.
