Wanted Rusk Co. suspect found dead

On Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at approximately 10:00 a.m., Rusk County Sheriff's Office received information on the location of suspect Ernest Maynard Brinkmann.  Brinkmann was wanted by the Rusk County Sheriff's Office for Aggravated Assault, which occurred on November 20, 2010.

The Rusk County Sheriff's Office requested the assistance from Texas Department of Public Safety Aviation Unit in the apprehension of 68 year old, Ernest Maynard Brinkmann.  Once the Texas Department of Public Safety Aviation Unit arrived in the area of the suspect's residence, Brinkmann was spotted on his property, in the Southern region of Rusk County, on County Road 4170 South.

After further investigation by the Rusk County Criminal Investigation Unit, Brinkmann was discovered to have suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  At approximately 11:15 a.m., Brinkmann was pronounced dead by honorable Darlene Childress, Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4.
