LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - A six-month-old boy is fighting for his life after a babysitter told his mother he was not responding to her Thursday, according to Lufkin Police.
Police say the mother called the babysitter to check on him and the babysitter explained that she called just in time, because the baby was not responding to her.
The mother came to the babysitter's house and saw the child was unresponsive and called an ambulance.
The child was flown to a Houston hospital, where he is listed in critical condition. As of 8 a.m., he was on a breathing machine.
Police are investigating the incident.
"We really don't know at this time if it was an accident or not," Lt. David Young said. "But we're continuing to investigate it."
The babysitter told police the child had rolled off a bed and onto a concrete floor when he was left unattended for a short time while she rushed to check on another child, according to the police report.
