Gregg Co. man killed in one vehicle rollover

Released by Longview Police Department:

LONGVIEW, TX - Friday morning at around 3:11a.m. Longview Officers were dispatched to the 500 Block of North Eastman Road for a one vehicle accident. 

Officers arrived and found that a silver Nissan had been traveling Northbound in the 500 Block of North Eastman Road when the driver lost control upon crossing East Marshall Avenue. 

The vehicle rolled several times before stopping in a restaurant parking lot.  Longview Fire/EMS responded and transported both occupants of the vehicle to Good Shepherd Medical Center.  The driver was transported with non-life threatening injuries and the passenger was transported with life threatening injuries. 

The passenger, 20 year-old Richard King, of White Oak, was pronounced dead at the hospital by Gregg County Justice of the Peace B.H. Jameson. 

The driver, 21 year-old Joshua Cowart, of White Oak, has been arrested for intoxication manslaughter and will be booked in to the Gregg County Jail upon his release from the hospital. 

 The accident investigation is ongoing.
